Yealink is one of the largest SIP phone manufacturers in the world. Seing as that is the case we thought it was time to review one of their phones, expect more to come! The first one we are going to look at is the T42g SIP phone. This model is one of the best selling “workhorses” of the Yealink lineup. After checking it out we can see why.
Overall the T42g seems to be a solid phone that will hold up in most business uses. We would not hesitate to put this little guy on our desk in the warehouse. The handset feels nice in the hand and the buttons have just enough “give” to feel nice.
The speakerphone of the T42g is good, but frankly nothing to write home about. Overall it is a solid contender, but nothing special.
> Revolutionary new design – according to Yealink
> Yealink Optima HD voice
> Dual-port Gigabit Ethernet
> 2.7″ 192×64-pixel graphical LCD with back light
> Up to 12 SIP accounts
> Paper label free design
> PoE support
> Headset, EHS support
> Integrated stand with 2 adjustable angles
> Wall mountable
> Simple, flexible and secure provisioning options
As you can see from the list, the T42g is a well equipped phone, but it really doesn’t have anything that other SIP phones in the class do not have too. The back light, while nice and at one time it would have been unique, is now common in most phones of this class at this point.
In conclusion, the Yealink T42g is a nice phone and it is a good choice for anyone looking for a basic SIP phone. However, if pricing or SIP provider is having a special on other SIP phone models it would be worth looking at those models too.
